Prior to becoming a trial attorney, Ms. Segmiller worked for approximately six years as a chemical and project engineer with USX Corporation and PPG Industries from 1982 through 1988 after graduating in 1982 with a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Carnegie Mellon University.

Subsequently, Ms. Segmiller began law school in 1988 and while attending law school worked as an intern with Giant Eagle, Inc. for two years in the corporate legal department. Following graduation from Duquesne University Law School in 1991, Ms. Segmiller took an associate position with the law firm of Armstrong, Nikaido, Marmelstein, Kubovic & Murray, a Washington, D.C. based intellectual property firm, prosecuting patents and trademarks in the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Ms. Segmiller became a registered U.S. patent attorney in April, 1993. After prosecuting patents and trademarks for approximately two years, Ms. Segmiller switched her focus to litigation, specifically plaintiff’s personal injury, workers compensation and medical malpractice cases.

Ms. Segmiller joined the successor law firm of Segmiller & Associates, P.C. in August 1998 and took responsibility for defending various litigation matters with the firm. The law firm’s practice encompasses litigation in numerous areas including the defense of third party personal injury cases, automobile litigation including UM/UIM litigation both pre and post-Koken, employment issues, commercial litigation, subrogation, fraud, property, bad faith and replevin actions. She has presented numerous motions and post-trial motions to the various courts of Pennsylvania and has successfully tried well over thirty (30) cases to verdict. Ms. Segmiller litigation experience includes cases before juries in Allegheny, Beaver, Butler, Lawrence, Mercer, Westmoreland, Washington, Erie and Crawford counties. Most recently, Ms. Segmiller has litigated UM/UIM/bad faith actions in both the county courts as well as the United States District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania. She has also briefed and successfully argued multiple appellate issues to the Pennsylvania Superior Court and has also authored various opinion letters at the request of her clients regarding insurance coverage issues.

Recently, Ms. Segmiller is also associate counsel with a Philadelphia based law firm handling various litigation matters for the firm in the western Pennsylvania courts of common pleas.

Ms. Segmiller has also presented numerous seminars to clients on various litigation areas of interest including UM/UIM litigation post-Koken and has spoken at continuing legal education seminars for the National Business Institute, Litigating Insurance Coverage Claims: From Start to Finish, May 1, 2013 and at the PBI seminar, Rules of the Road-Fundamentals of Automobile Litigation, UM/UIM Basics, August15, 2014.
