Melissa A. Walls
Ms. Walls’ professional experience includes more than ten years as a practicing attorney, and more than 14 years working in the nonprofit sector as a Development Director for both a large regional social services agency and a national organization tasked with drafting and promulgating uniform laws for enactment by the States.
After graduating law school in 2002, Ms. Walls worked for Levicoff, Silko & Deemer, P.C. where she focused on general civil defense litigation, including: insurance defense; construction disputes; bond claims; personal injury claims; premises liability; wrongful discharge; product liability; automobile accidents; successor in interest liability; and trucking accidents. She joined Segmiller & Associates, P.C., in 2013 and continues to focus on the aforesaid general civil defense litigation areas, as well as UM/UIM litigation post-Koken, employment issues, commercial litigation, subrogation, fraud, property, bad faith and replevin actions. She has successfully argued before Common Pleas courts throughout Pennsylvania and the United States District Court for Western Pennsylvania, and has resolved cases through arbitration and mediation as well.
Ms. Walls has also held leadership positions as the Development Director with two nonprofit organizations, Holy Family Institute, which is located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and the Uniform Law Commission, which is located in Chicago, Illinois. In these roles she was responsible for planning, developing and coordinating successful fund raising activities and meeting the annual fund raising goals, as well as assisting with developing goals, strategies and policies for the organizations.
